Design_interviews_PaolaNoe_07

Paola lives in Milan and is an independent curator, she writes about contemporary art and she is a contributing editor for Flash Art. Since 2009 she started “Unduetrestella” a project about “little” pieces of art for little ones exposed in a “little” gallery in the center of Milan. Together with Thomas Maitz Paola gave life to Kidsroom ZOOM, a special home exclusively designed for children.

Design_interviews_PaolaNoe_02 Do you remember a special gift you received when you were a child? Yes, of course! It was a little kitchen with oven and 2 fires! It was a present for Xmas. I confess I still have it in my family countryside house. What’s the most beautiful holiday you had when you were a child? All my summers spent driving with my parents on a VOLVO POLAR around Europe! What was your favorite toy? A Caran d’Ache box of colour pencils and “Indovina chi” table game! Were you good at school? Yes, but nothing special! Just good! Were you neat or messy? I was very careful to be neat! Design_interviews_PaolaNoe_06 Were you lively or thoughtful? Lively definitely. What did you use to draw? Caran d’Ache! I love them. What did you want to become in the future? Architect like my dad. What was your favorite item of clothing, the one you always wanted to wear? Skirts and shirts made by my grandma with Liberty tissues. Design_interviews_PaolaNoe_05 Did you prefer cowboys or Indians? Neither. Which was the worst  prank you played or suffered? I remember that a nun of my primary school got very ungry because my friend and i were used to smell te foot of religious statues during the mass and we bended over with laughter. What was your recurring whim? Eating gummy bears. Design_interviews_PaolaNoe_04 How did you first graze your knee? Riding bycicle. What was the food you used to hate most? I was used to eat everything!!! What’s the first lie you told? I couldn’t tell lies. But I ever dreamt to be able to! Do you remember a dirty word you used to say?  I think “merda” was my favourite! Design_interviews_PaolaNoe_03 If you could go back in time when you were a child, what “modern” game would you like to have fun with? I really do not know. What ‘s the game you play (would like to play) with your son? I like drawing with them! What movie or cartoon would you like to see (have seen) with your son? I really enjoyed Ernst and Celestine! Design_interviews_PaolaNoe_01 Which book did you give him (would you like to give to him)? My Richard Scarry books! They are still fantastic and my girls love them. Which item would you like to leave to your child? I would like to leave them TIME! In your opinion, what ‘s missing today in the world of children? If you mean a thing, I cannot say anything, if you mean a “condition”, I say the ability to wait and time to do nothing! It’s not easy to teach them! Do you have a project for the little ones in mind or have you already carried out one for them? I am working on kidsroomzoom project sinmce years and I believe in it!
